Children with Warm, Bright Orange Personality Tendencies:

Remember, with any color personality color tendency there are the centered tendencies, which are wonderful and delightful, and their are the extreme color personality tendencies which are destructive and damaging to all relationships. In this blog, I will be focusing primarily on the CENTERED orange personality color tendencies which can be absolutely delightful.

Children who have significant orange personality tendencies as a part of their personality color blends have a strong desire for acceptance and need stimulation and adventure. They love to be the center of attention and dislike conflict because conflict is simply no fun. They often begin to entertain others with jokes or playful behavior from a very early age. They love to make others laugh. These children are natural entertainers, picking up skills like magic, juggling, and dancing early on.

Because they are attention seekers, these children often become class clowns or are considered popular figures in school. Many pursue comedy, theatre and acting. They are often seen as ‘irresistible’ and ‘charming’ by many. Orange is a great personality color tendency for those who become influencers on social media. They love the camera, and the camera loves them. In their extremes however, their impulsiveness can create real challenges for them, their family as their impulsiveness can lead to many kinds of addictions.

Children with bright orange personality tendencies are enthusiastic, humorous, personable and love telling stories. Unlike those with a yellow personality tendencies, they concentrate on their own feelings, seeking fun and excitement, instead of being concerned about the feelings of others. They can have a tendency to be self-centered, so teaching them empathy and building their emotional intelligence early on is crucial to ensure they experience more success in their relationships.

They love style and are attentive to trends, often setting them. They think outside the box and are not afraid to buck the current trends. Artists at heart, whether it be acting, dancing, drama club, painting, sculpting or other artistic endeavors, they come alive at the thought or creating.

They are master communicators. They love to talk and interact with others. In their extremes that can us their sharp wit as sarcasm. In their extremes they can use their sharp tongue as a weapon.

Effective Parenting for Children with Orange Personality Tendencies:

  • Communicate with sincerity, support, and playfulness. But start early teaching the benefits of self-control and discipline that do not come as naturally to them.

  • Actively encourage focus, forethought and discipline. Consider resources like Dr. Foster Cline and Jim Fay’s Parenting With Love and Logic and Greatness and Children: Learn the Rules. Visit www.DawnBillings.com for more information.

  • Explore emotional intelligence books by Daniel Goleman and my own works available at www.DawnBillings.com.

  • Appreciate their charm, but also encourage and expect them to build character and develop integrity to help hold them on course.

  • Discipline with firmness, empathy, and fairness. Use humor to convey serious points.

  • Stay composed when expressing emotions to prevent them from becoming overly dramatic.

  • Maintain consistency in your actions and promises.

  • Honor your commitments, whether they involve rewards or consequences.

  • Admire their adventurous spirit and allow them to learn through experiences.

  • Set clear boundaries about acceptable behaviors and their consequences.
